The role of power in the adoption of interorganizational information systems (IOS) and supply chain-wide IT diffusion.
- Research Description
The integration of supply networks to ensure timely and high quality information sharing between trading partners is an essential component in supply chain performance development. Electronic data interchange (EDI) and other interorganizational systems (IOS) are able to support these goals, however the diffusion of these systems throughout the supply chain is by no means guaranteed. Integration very often fails due to conflicting interests of the supply chain members and because of the lack of commonly accepted IT and process standards.
IOS literature is biased toward adoption and does not represent the role of power appropriately in adoption research. The research project develops the Adoption Position model that tries to explain the IOS adoption phenomenon involving both economic and social factors and that serves as an analytical and predictive supply chain tool.
We use the methodology of multiple case studies with a positivist approach.
