Title: Research methods and validation issues in IS research
Abstract:
The presentation aims to introduce the background of the case study method (as historically rooted in the social sciences) and elaborates on how it compares to other methods (eg RCT statistics experiments, survey, action research). Related philosophical and methodological discussions on scientific method as well as the specifics of it in the Information Systems area are discussed.

Call for Papers

Researchers in the field of business economics, management and organization are invited to present their research either as poster or paper at the 9th PREBEM conference in Amersfoort at October 5th, 2006. No particular constraints with respect to topics, methods or theoretical background will be given. Again, we stress that this conference is also intended for PhD researchers at the start of their project.

The 9th PREBEM conference, 'Back to Business: Creating and Translating Scientific Knowledge,' addresses the discussion about the relevance, rigor and value of scientific knowledge creation for business. However, we invite PhD researchers in all fields of research in business economics, management and organization science to attend the conference. This means there are no particular constraints with respect to topics, fields of interest or disciplines. We stress that this conference is also intended for PhD researchers at the start of their project.
